Wow. At around 8:25, I imagined Tom singing "It's gloriou~~~s!" And that made me realize this is the Refueling Music from The Starfighters! Listen to The Starfighters around 12:00

It bugs me that they're still studying the scroll en route to Venus. Shouldn't they have finished that first? It reveals a plan to destroy the Earth, which doesn't pan out, of course, but you'd think they'd want to be ready for a fight. They're all scientists aboard a ship with no defense systems. They'd be screwed.

I actually don't think this is that bad a film. It's certainly a lot better than stuff like Sidehackers and King Dinosaur.

The robot in this movie has a face only a motherboard could love.

Hahaha! I love that Tom's defense of Pia Zadora is that she was in a John Waters movie.

You can tell it's from the ol' Evil Empire; they played chess with ~algebraic~ notation.

I love when they turn on the gravity on the guys that are floating and all they do is bend down behind the chairs.

Does anyone know if the statement that Brinkman is an American was added into the English dub? I find it hard to believe that an East German film made during the 50s or 60s would have an American as the hero.

I saw this movie as a kid and really liked it. They did a good job (imho) making Venus look, well, otherwordly. But it was fun to watch with Joel and the bots. Been watching MST3K since season 2 on TV but somehow had not seen this one so that was fun!

Ram Chips - Good thing: I agree with Crow; I like the international flavour plus it is in colour. Bad thing: The people are as slow and plodding as Omega who is as slow and plodding as the pace of this film.

If this had been made after 1997 there would have been more Teletubbie jokes.

So, how did Taluwa and Chin-u succeed in reversing the field...by dropping the rope? And what was that melted metal at the top of the tower(1:07:39)? At first I thought it was Omega but, no such luck.

Um...No gravity? While they're standing there? What?

1:28:58 - I agree with Crow. Actually, I kind of like this film. I even felt bad for the guys who didn't make it home. Others' mileage may vary, of course.

Unlike most bad movies, this one is at least entertainingly bad with all the great riffs!

Servo's sarcastic voice just comes off femmy.

2 laughs

24:00 They should have integrated parts form the old Servo in that thing.

3 laughs

9:10 There's a lot of Omegas in that formula.

The commercial at 1:09:30 is hysterical! References to 'technicolor yawn' and topping them with 'Jimmy hats' are just 2 of about 15 references that 90% of the audience missed. Fell over laughing!

Rather surprising that a Polish/East German film from the 60's (in colour no less) made it to the "BIG SCREEN". The Soviets more than likely shot all these people after filming for being traitors to the "state". I don't mean to offensive but..... where did all these black folk come from in an Eastern Bloc country during the cold war ?(those guys are darker wet potting soil)

The Def Leopard "joke", ....... ouch! Despite Rick Allen's disability, I think he'd DROP TV's Frank in one smooth roundhouse punch.

Despite being made in 1959, the fact that this mission is supposed to have been done by a country that STILL wouldn't have MTV with their own technology is worth a chuckle.

Tom's busted sarcasm meter is almost too much to take, but the payoff is good.
