Is the "chamber" here the same one used in Terror from the Year 5000?

Does anyone else think that the decrepit old woman in this movie is, like, early fifties at latest?

I'm a little confused by the short. Where there no police in the 50's? Why are the school board and the mayor debating gang violence without a cop in sight?

I kept thinking that they had done this one already in a prior season. Then it came to me, This is a remake of "The Corpse Vanishes".

So...how many times does that raspberry beret show up on the show? Mike wears it here. Crow wore it during The Brain that Wouldn't Die. I think he wore it during The Incredible Melting Man, too. Are there any other appearances?

Oh, one of those times I WISH I was working on the writing staff. It is such an easy Riff.

Austrian girl to doctor: "Surly, you don't want to compare yourself with Dr. Correll."

I will compare myself with Dr. Correll. And stop calling me Shirley.

Fun fact: this movie used music from Beast of Yucca Flats. I thought one of the blasting horn parts sounded familiar - apparently Gene Kauer, this film's composer, was uncredited on Yucca Flats, but imdb says he was one of the three composers (three composers!) on that film. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054673/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm

wasn't this sorta ripped off by a TREEHOUSE OF HORROR Ep of Simpsons where Burns uses Homer's brain in the giant Homer-like robot he makes??

I love it that the tough "gang" kids were fazed by the very thin old lady high school teacher coming down the hall. She said nothing, just raised a finger, and they skedaddled! Ah...the good old days when authority figures were mean!

If there were a list of the most anti-feminist* movies MST3k riffed, it's pretty damn likely that this would be on it. Not only do you have a looks-obsessed, vengeful "hag" (sorry, it's the archetype I'm meaning here) as the Big Bad, you also have a misogynist narrator, repeated instances of the young women begging the mercy of totally unthreatening old men (patriarchy), and a karmic system that punishes any of the young women that actually try and stand up for themselves. I mean, seriously, every female in this movie suffers a purposelessly horrible fate (though screw the old lady). Jeez, it's a friggin' feminist's nightmare,

* This word doesn't quite capture what I'm mean, but I'm feeling dumb right now and its the closest I can pluck from my head.

It's funny to me that the short uses the same music for the Adventures of Superman with George Reeves. Way too dramatic for what's going on.

Five of my favorite bits in this episode:
1) Trace imitating himself as both of his characters. Awesome.
2) Mike throws Servo into the theatre. "That wasn't very nice." lol
5) "It's Trixie Belden and Honey!" My mom had a bunch of those books and I loved them as a kid. My pre-Nancy Drew stage.

Like you, this movie left me with many questions about the sustainability of my sanity. However, I can say with all confidence that Bea’s (Judy Bamber) Michigan-British accent sounded no phonier than Renée Zellweger’s Texas-British accent in those horrid Bridget Jones movies. And in that I can take some small comfort as I go on from this…

City Council member from the short: "Mr. Ferguson is right, and these kids are right, too." Basically all Mr. Ferguson said was that he invited the kids there, and then introduced them, and all the kids had said was, "You guys talk about teenagers as if we're all a bunch of freaks." So it's really confusing what he's agreeing with-I expected the kids to actually have something to say after all the drama of the chase scene to the courthouse. Then they had no idea what to say-guess they didn't think that one through.
