Are the "live-action" puppet movies (Mysterons, etc) on MST at all related to the Thunderbirds show from the mid-60s?

Are these two marionette movies on the early MST3K shows (Revenge of the Mysterons & Invaders of the Deep (?? is that the title?) at all related to those 1965-era THUNDERBIRDS shows? It really looks like it (e.g., if you want to know what I mean, there's a 35 min. documentary on this on You Tube: I guess some people are going to do an "updated" version of the Thunderbirds stuff. But, really, if you saw the doc on YT & then saw these movies on MST, you'd understand why I'm curious!! Anyone out there know about any possible connections? Right-o.

This is a slightly different MST experience. They're really watching the movie, eating popcorn, and you're watching too. It's less about the riffs, more about just chillaxing... Don't get me wrong. I love non-stop riffing, but bad movies are awesome in their own way too. It just requires more alcohol...

Crow is sounding a bit better, gypsy just sounds dumb, while Tom servo doesn't appear till the third host segment and the mads are nowhere to be seen, but hey we all have to start somewhere? right?.

Aww, cute. It's a puppet show from innocent days gone by. Where the good guys are called SPECTRUM and they give status reports in color code and everyone's name matches the color of their uniform. Oh, and the plot is that humanity is losing a war against the Martians which they started with a preemptive strike against a Martian city and now the good guys are outright killing the enemy and it very much looks like our hero just sacrificed his life and... Who, exactly, was the target audience here?

Servo! (And, IMO, looking better in his original incarnation.) Silhouette interactions! Puns! Really getting into the swing of things now. Weird that we're still missing the Mads, though. I wonder what the original theme song was like. Did they have one? Did they just somehow decide not to include the Mads anywhere else in the show?

Joel and the Bots refer to the Mysterons as 'Mysterions'. Maybe they'd been listening to the 'Nuggets' album.
