Poor Trumpy. Poachers killed all his siblings in the egg. Then his mom, after coming home to find her children dead, goes on a murderous revenge spree and gets herself killed. Then Tommy has to leave him. Now he's a two day old orphan, abandoned in the woods, the only one of his kind on an alien planet.

This is the first episode of MST3K I ever saw. I didn't have cable as a kid, but I saw this when Rhino put a few episode on VHS. I still remember the commercial Rhino put on those tapes: it had two 90's guys in a desert doing interpretative dance about calling their 800 number to request a catalog..."It's a free call...it's a free catalog..." Good times!

I have the sneaking suspicion that this "movie" was actually a serial of different episodes thrown together like " Fugitive Alien 1&2" . I bet when Trumpies race goes to war they just snort up a bottle of peanuts then exhale in the enemies direction.

Isn't it just heartwarming how the It Stinks Guy's girlfriend is comforted by the Non-Threatening Best Friend? Basically, he explains that musicians, by nature, are unfaithful cads. He advises her to suck it up and accept a life of playing second fiddle to an endless stream of nubile young groupies...because he really does love her! Honest!

Essentially, it's HER fault for not taking Ricky's complete lack of respect for her, or for their relationship in stride like a good little doormat.

Whenever the topic of "Who's the worst MST3K hero?" comes up, I always forget about this movie; that douchey singer is such a self-centered, sociopathic beta-male that it's hard to remember that he's supposed to be a hero. This movie makes a LOT more sense after reading the Wikipedia page:
"The film was originally meant to be about evil aliens, but the producers demanded script alterations in order to cash in on the success of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial by featuring a child and cute, lovable alien."
Assuredly, the title sequence features the original pre-Trumpy alien monster.
