I like the fact that Gamera is always billed as friend to all children yet he destroyed whole cities. He's just too kid friendly to live in a heavily populated city designed by adults for adults! Let's ignore the fact that he's probably killed hundreds of children through his constant building destroying and power plant siphoning and the countless yen wasted putting him into space (only for him to return) that could have went to literally any other gov't project and benefit children more than the handful of times Gamera saved/incredibly endangered a singularly stupid kid or kids.

I have always been a TV's Frank fan, and I love his description of himself during the invention exchange. Check him and Trace out on Movie Sign with the Mads podcast, it's "one of the good ones."

They tried a lot of audience-participation promos, like how to snuff Gaos, that must not have panned out. Anyway, we never heard back about them.

Thanks Crow! I watched this episode with my 8 year old granddaughter. When my son came to pick her up, she tells him, "Pop Pop says the word for today is booger. Booger, booger, booger!"

Little squirt hung me out to dry!

1. Gaos's head looks like the front of the classic comic book Batmobile.http://coolmaterial.com/roundup/history-batmobile/

2. When Itchy is the smartest person in your country, you know you're in trouble.

3. This version is much better than the KTMA one, with a lot of great material, but I really miss the "grandpa went moo" riffs. ("We should tell him... But we really need the milk!")

4. Gamera comes very close to making Godzilla noises.

5. I guess they cut the preview reel (seen in the KTMA version) for time. Can't say I blame them. But it's a little odd given the fuss they made over the highlight reel at the end.

I love the opening segment with the gravely-voiced celebrities. "I'm only taking calls from David Janssen aaaaaahhhhhh." My favorite part is Magic Voice chiming in for commercial sign.

During that long, maniacal laugh in the beginning, who else was waiting for them to suddenly turn on each other and go, 'YOU'RE STUCK HERE!'?

I love that Magic Voice gets into the raspy voice, along with Crow and Tom. I actually find it more entertaining than the bots. :)

Gamera reminds me of the monster version of Clint Eastwood; always the loaner, tries do good, runs havoc while doing good, gets hurt, recovers, beats the enemy, and saves some citizens.

I just watched the 'Gaos the Great' host segment again and got the fact that Joel is Gaos...duh...how did I miss the cape, shovel head and teeth first time around?..because I thought Crow had said 'Gayo the Greek'. (if not in full episode check 'Best of' link).

Ram Chips - Good thing: Gaos knocking a stalactite onto his new foot (classic goofy yet endearing Japanese Monster gag). Bad Thing: 7 year old Itchy knows EVERYTHING (classic cute yet rediculous Japanese Kid element).

Tom's right about Aeschylus. The story that's told about how he died was that he was walking on a beach and a pelican dropped a turtle on his head, because it was trying to break the turtle's shell. How much truth there is to the story is another matter all together.

It's weird going from Gamera vs. Barugon to this movie what with one of the main characters being played by the same actor (although dubbed by a different voice...I think).

I will argue this point to no end...."All the good TV shows have been removed" too many stupid narrow minded dolts living in our world today that don't appreciate Science Fiction what ever the form .... when Issac Azimov once said "Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critic's and philosophers of today, But the Core of science fiction, It's essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all."

This was the movie that got Gamera banned from my parents' house, after it gave my kid brother nightmares. He was always more into Godzilla anyway...
