Counting the haikibas wasn't a great idea, it just points out how overused a joke it is.

Is there a reason lee has a gerbil/hamster in the beginning? Where does it go after that scene? Also the beginning reminded me of the beginning of The Sidehackers, except mercifully shorter.

I don't get all the jokes about Tim Van Patten's voice. He doesn't sound like their imitation of him at all.

While this one has some fine moments, it's just not as awesome as it could have been. This one should have been an all-time riffage classic. If they'd done it in season 5, it might have been a contender. Skits are great, though. I love when Frank gets poignant.

Also: the damsel in distress in part two was the oldest sibling on "Charles in Charge." It literally blows my mind that they never made a joke about it. (Granted, she doesn't get much screen time.)

Two questions:
1. Is this the first episode where Frank calls himself TV Frank?
2. Frank says a quote that is used elsewhere: "... for the laughter, for the love, for the boys." what is that from?

Master ninja was a tv series called the master. They filmed in 1982ish. They made 14 episodes and they never find the masters daughter. They just travel around the country solving crimes. Its incredibly lame and awesome

I don't get why they imitate Tim Van Patten's voice the way they do and so much. I try to find some resemblance to their impersonations of his voice whenever he delivers a line, but I don't get it.

11 laughs? I wish I could say that this experiment is an overlooked gem... The thing is that the riffing is really solid. The movie doesn't make any sense, but taken as two episodes of a TV series it's actually decent -especially compared to the torture that is The Castle Of Fu Manchu or most of their experiments. Therein lies the problem. Sometimes I want Joel and the bots to let me hear the dialogue so I can enjoy the stupid love interest or 90s pro-union/feminism/diversity/treating-handicapped-people-like-everybody-else subplot. Oh well, a solid end to a memorable season nonetheless!

The unedited nature of a lot of the Joel sketches is pretty charming; it also provides for moments like the one we have in the improv sketch in the beginning here, where we can see Joel quickly amend Gypsy's suggestion in order to avoid saying "You're doing Peter Gabriel".

Well, it's down to this. I've put off watching Master Ninja II as long as I could but it's the only episode I haven't seen. Um, maybe - maybe I should watch The Wild World of Batwoman again, or something. Anything but Timothy Van Patten, that mush-mouthed stump. Seriously. I've seen more charismatic corpses.
