Forgot if I ever asked this anywhere else on the sight, but what IS it with all the renfest jabs that are written into MST3K? I know the jokes tend to get spread around but it seems like every time they head for a fantasy 'epic' around here it's out with the renfest jabs. The Mad's experiment here and the one commercial skit in Mike's era really hammer it home that maybe Joel, Mike and the rest of the crew were not very happy fans of those events...

I love that Joel is disappointed in the robots that he himself built and programmed. God must be like a giant, cosmic Joel, arguing with his robots. And the earth is...the SOL or something, I don't know. I didn't really think this metaphor through.

I think that a little jealousy shows up at the end of Tom's cinema routine. He is not mad at them for cutting in on his lines and messin' with his presentation. I think he is just plain jealous of the fact that they actually have legs and, therefore, can do the leg-up move.

I think gila monsters are pretty cute. I'm fairly convinced they only used one because it has "monster" in its name. I mean, they never even play on the fact gila monsters are poisonous.

I think the fact that they cut parts from a movie to make it fit to the length of an episode contributes to episodes not making sense, which they joke about but are largely responsible for.

Y'know, I just now pulled this off the backup pile for the hell of it, just to watch an episode I hadn't seen in a while, and about twenty minutes into it, I thought "jeezus, why did I take this one out of rotation?" Next thing I knew, I'd lit a smoke, popped a cold one, propped my knee up on the radiator and was totally into it.

Packed to the gills with badness... or, goodness -- Joel and the Bots singing that stupid "my baby sings whenever she sings" tune whenever a character's car rolls into the scene, Joel's asides in the gila monster voice whenever the gila monster shows up, the whole compulsive putting-your-knee-up thing... I totally forgot how great this one is.

It'll go great in a double feature with another Ray Kellogg masterpiece produced by Ken "Festus" Curtis, The Killer Shrews (Experiment 407).
