While I do feel that DEEP HURTING and SAND STORM are effective tools in the science of driving a person nuts by making him watch bad movies, I still feel that Rock Climbing is a far more effective and destructive tactic. But that's... just me.

I like how these villans keep trying to catch the strongest man alive using brute force. C'mon bad guys, use some strategy here! If your quarry is strong, render his strength useless. How would the Herk do in a game of riddles or having to escape some trap that requires finesse and patience? What about poison, stealth assassins, or magic spells (since it IS mythology)? The last movie had the water of forgetfulness, which almost did him in! That's the kind of sinister goodness I expect from my movie bad guys! Hikeeba!

I'd just like to point out what Joseph Ewing pointed out in a reply, that this was originally a Maciste film (see Colossus and the Headhunters) and was changed for American audiences (see Magic Voyage of Sinbad). Also, this movie is terrible. Also, this episode is wonderful.

As a pilot I like magic voice's part: "Joke has passed the yellow marker and is cleared for landing on runway 32. Gears locked and joke should be touching down in just a moment. Joke is now landing. The joke has landed, please remain seated with your seat in the upright position until the seatbelt light is turned off, this has been the Satellite of Love inviting you to laugh at least once a day, it's fun. We'll be back after this word from Moody's Headache Powder."

from the MST3K Wiki:

'Deep Hurting was a concept first mentioned by Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank during the invention exchange of experiment #410, Hercules Against the Moon Men. Rather than showing an invention up front, the Mads ominously promised that Deep Hurting would be "woven into the fabric of today's experiment", making particular note of the film's sandstorm scene'.

Call me superficial, but this movie had possibly the most stunning female characters in MST3K history. The evil queen, Herc's girl, the blonde princess--all of them were simply breathtaking. And I have to admit: This fact somewhat mitigated the effects of Deep Hurting for me.

I always dislike when they do dialogue intensive movies, because they talk over what would make the story make a bit of sense, if we could here it. This movie is the opposite, especially with the chocolate bar guy moment. It's as if he stood there waiting for Kevin to complete the joke.
