I have to imagine this was incredibly awkward to make since they had gypsy, Jim mallon's character, "save" Joel from the ship when to my understanding Joel left because he didn't like how much control Jim had over the direction of the show.

Love this episode. I had it on tape back in the day and its a great episode to introduce newcomers to the show. GoodBye Joel!!! It takes a true artist and a strong/smart man to realize that their (brain) child has grown up and it now needs time to mature without him. Joel is one of the most positive and awesome, but sadly unsung artistic minds of the 90's.

I started watching this series in season 2.... literally. So, I was with Joel very close to the beginning. Mitchell was a bitter sweet episode. Joel would be gone from the show, but, at the same time, Joel would be free. Mike did a fine job taking over and I love his episodes equally, but... Joel is the creator of this genre. I never thought much about the sequence with the kid until I read somewhere that he's supposed to be Greta's son. Now it just disturbs the hell out of me. You're a hooker, you get into a disagreement with your cop-john which gets you arrested, so in order to get back at him you send your child to harass him at a stake out location... I hope this isn't the case. If it is, it just might be the most disturbing of all the disturbing things ever seen in an MST movie. No wonder Tom screamed :)

This must have been a subliminal message to Mike(since real quote has the name Mike in it): 'Mike, the whole world is a circus if you look at it the right way. Every time you pick up a handful of dust, and see not the dust, but a mystery, a marvel, there in your hand, every time you stop and think, "I'm alive, and being alive is fantastic!" Is 'Peeling Oranges' some kind of Joe Don Baker trademark? Mitchell peels one in this film while having dinner with some vague kind of criminal-man (circa 0:43.30) and in 'Final Justice,' JDB as Sheriff Geronimo again takes steel to produce while intimidating a Maltese bartender! (It was a very dumb story)

Also to add to my other comment, it's weird to think this, of all their movies, would have an offended cast member.

It's basically just the tale of an uncomprehending drunkard not going away when people tell him to. Monster A-Go-Go takes itself more seriously. Still, not sure what to think about the fact that they're willing to do an other Joe Don Baker movie after he reportedly hated it. Maybe they just assumed the truth? (That is, Baker not really meaning it, just getting sick of being asked about it)
