I remember watching Season 5 Episode 15, The Wild World of Batwoman. If you couldn't make it through that episode I don't blame you, it a REALLY bad and confusing movie, even for MST3k. Being a stubborn person myself I hung on for the ride however, and suddenly like three quarters through the movie the director must have snapped and we are in the set of the city of Ishtar and the scientists that are fighting Batwoman have captured the Mole People and they start making fun of John Agar. Suddenly Mike and the Bots just start laughing awkwardly and I start laughing just because of how outlandish it all seems. It's like we all went down a wormhole before the Crew on the SOL got lost in Space. It was like a madhouse.

There were ancient societies that have some over the top cruel punishments for small mistakes or even things out of their control. Like one society would put farmers to death for not producing enough food. Another would stone children to death for misbehaving. Well not saying today is any better ether. XD

From the unnecessary prologue to the endless scenes of walking and climbing (not to mention stentorian Agar-isms), this turkey is almost as painful as "Lost Continent". Too bad Mike and Co. weren't inspired to do a reboot of the "Pad the Film" theme song as this interminable groaner of a movie definitely deserved it.

Around 40:35, it looked like the team suddenly abandoned their expedition to smoke a bong. Their flashlight looks like a bong anyway. To hell with this. Let's get stoned and stare at a cave sealing for hours on end.

Dude! Some dog is trying to hump my leg.
It doesn't look like a dog, man. Looks like a Brown Grey.

The short musical riff the Servo recites at 1:08:06 is from the Deep Purple song 'Lazy' from the album 'Machine Head'. One of the best rock/blues song of all time !

You know "the Load" kinda looks like the ship captain in "Revenge of the Creature".... and John Agar too...... naw the Creature is much better looking than Agar.
I'm surprised they never made the comment "John Agar, the Rent -A- Center John Wayne....or Wayne from Wayne's World". The only character that talks more than that Nestor guy is "Gomez" from Ca-Ve' Dwellers.

This experiment easily just shot into my top 10, with a bullet! Sure, John Agar was a swift kick in the eggs, but it might be Mike Nelson's best work ever! AIKEEBAH!

What's the deal with Crow being alone in the ship for 500 years? I didn't follow the show too closely once it went over to the SciFi channel, and I know there was some attempt at a so called 'story arch' which never made a lot of sense. Can anyone fill me in?

So, question: why is there an ENGLISH professor explaining issues of anthropology, sociology, and various theories on Earth sciences at in the intro of the movie? Were they afraid audiences wouldn't understand a title like "Geologist" or "Archaeologist"?

I don't believe hell and the underworld constitute "areas habitable by man". In fact a major theme of stories that go into such places is that the people clearly don't belong there and can't actually stay there for very long

I'm sure all of the MST3K fans are so glad that NBC has protected it's lucrative rights to the contents of this episode. I know that I sleep better now that NBC can reap the massive revenues. After all, they don't really have anything nearly as entertaining. Haven't they ever heard of good faith?

Music Supervision credit trivia

While watching 'Tarantula', another William Alland/John Agar/Nestor Paiva masterpiece on 'Svengoolie' last night I heard an interesting explanation of the 'Music Supervision' credit given to Joseph Gershenson.

Svengoolie says that the original score to 'Tarantula' (which sounds A LOT like 'Mole People''s music) was "supervised" by Gershenson but originally composed by Henry Mancini.

Unfortunately he didn't give any explanation for omitting Mancini's name so I choose to think that Mancini realized how bad this movie was going to be and pulled his name off of the credits :-)

"Archaeologists are underpaid publicity agents for deceased royalty." That is a fantastic line. The first time I watched this episode, I actually put that on Facebook, I loved it so much. 99% of the time it's the riffs that are great, but there's that 1% of the screenplays' lines that thrill me.
