After watching this one, I've decided that the only real weakness to this movie was the total lack of budget. There's a plot that pretty much hangs together. It's easy to follow. I don't find any of the characters to be disgusting (the non-villains anyway).

With an actual budget, they could have had special effects, music that wasn't meant for plate-spinning, a little tighter presentation.

I'm going to go out on a limb here as I don't think I've seen anyone else mention this. Do you guys think maybe Bryan Singer loves this movie? Because Wolverine and Rogue's introduction in X-Men (2000) is literally the meeting of Rowsdower and Troy. The beer-swilling Canadian tough guy finds the weak protagonist hiding in the bed of his pickup...

I randomly decided to watch this episode today (Oct. 22, 2014) just after I found out about the attack near Parliament because it had tons of laughs (and I already watched Space Mutiny). It's really tragic that the attack happened, and a bit unnerving, still not sure what to think... I had no idea how many Canada riffs I was in for tho. It seems to me that the worst movies are often the ones in which the antagonists lose for no good reason. This one has a triple whammy of inexplicable defeats. Sartorus defeats the drunken-man-protagonist, starts walking confidently toward the feeble-child-protagonist, and then just falls down and dies. Riveting, in it's own right, but then the idol also falls over for no reason, and apparently shatters, revealing a lost city that seemed to have no significance to the story. But wait, there's still a veritable army of henchmen to account for before the story can be considered resolved. So what to do with them? Have them take off their masks and walk off the movie as if the buzzer had just sounded at the end of a hockey game.

Tom Servo the Mounty's Canada song alone...the last two verses of it, anyway...make this movie worth watching. And the old hermit is similar...VERY, spookily, similar...to the Canadian comedian, Red Green. I mean, it's weird. It IS one of the best episodes, in my opinion. And the fact that the kid looks strikingly like one of those annoy Ferringi guys off Star Trek 433,893 doesn't hurt the humor at all.

Interesting that his one is currently tied for the most laughs with 120, even higher than Manos. I love it myself but would not have guessed it was that popular, I think maybe the goofy but still somewhat self important charm of the movie helps. There are other episodes where the riffs are as good but the movies are just too dark to be as much fun.

Y'know, during the opening credits, Nelson wisecracks about "the bacony smell of Canada" on this movie, and I was just thinking... these guys really don't have a lot of room to talk, seeing as how they're doing this in Minneapolis, which is almost Canada.

Mike Pipper reminds me of Jim Henson when he would operate an old man Muppet...or Dr. Teeth too.

I’d say that guy sounded less like Yosemite Sam and more like Dr. Teeth.
