RIP Peter Tork. I watched most if not all "The Monkees" eps via reruns growing up(Heck I even liked the movie "Head}. He seemed to be a nice, mellow guy. One of the worst things about getting older is your fam dying and seeing people you watched as a youth dying. I really liked Mr. Tork.

I have fallen into the fresh hell (and probable fad) of Funko Pop! collecting. I found some nice Crow and Servo pops to start off with. Then I saw this thing:

(more info: https://mst3k.fandom.com/wiki/Tom_Serv-Crow
)
Pretty sure I'm not interested in getting him as he seems to command a much larger price being of a limited run; also not really into him.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts and opinions on Tom Serv-Crow.

The other night, I had a dream, and not just any dream, but a dream in which my brain was trying to add scenes to IT Lives by Night in order to make the story make sense. There was an extra scene or two in the cave and a flashback scene to the convulsing bat doctor's past. And a couple of other scenes.

All in all, my brain seemed to make an okay movie, but when I woke up, I sat there thinking, "I'm now dreaming about MST movies. Is that good or bad?"

No, the riffing wasn't part of my dream, either.

In y'all's opinions, when did the Mads get their worst defeats? I.E. the times where the SOL crew just handed the Mads' asses to them on a golden platter?

I can think of three offhand:
-Castle of Fu Manchu, where Joel tricked the Mads into demonstrating they're terrible at riffing
-Radar Secret Service, where Mike proved that Ecstato-EuphoroFun! (with patented Hinder-90™) really does make everything fun
-Diabolik, in which Mike finally secures freedom for himself and the Bots, jerking every tear out of our eyes in the process

List your examples, won't you?

I've been watching Dark Shadows on Amazon Prime. Soap opera is actually a pretty good format for gothic horror. Then right around Ep. 439, guess who shows up? No, not Tor Johnson, though he would have fit right in. Mr. Perfect Relationship from "Is This Love" plays a minor character. It turns out the short and the soap opera were just about all the actor, Craig Slocum, ever did. What a small world.

When did you first discover the show, and when were you hooked?

I discovered the show around 2006-2007, when I was in high school. Obviously, the show had long ended its run by then. One of the first episodes I saw was Prince of Space.

"And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!"

Opportunity, the Mars rover, was a simply amazing beast of a machine, outlasting his predicted functioning lifespan 60 times over.
In another words, it was...

"THE ROVER THAT WOULDN'T DIE!!!"

Its fellow rover, Spirit, likewise outlasted its predicted 3 month efficacy 20 times over.
Fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 that we are, if you're like me (and... well, you know) it doesn't take much to imagine these mechanized, computerized wonders imbued with sentience- can you conceptualize the odyssey of discovery that was Opportunity's existence? I mean, even just acknowledging them as the non-anthropomorphized, non-PIXAR instruments the two were, what they accomplished is mind-boggling.
And the fact that their journeys have finally come to an end, that their data stream from another planet has stopped, well, it fills me with a slight sense of melancholy.
But also a sense of wonder. I thank the men and women of NASA for giving us this phenomenon of knowledge and exploration. This is what humankind was meant to do: learn.
Farewell Opportunity and Spirit. You may never have had to sit through "Manos", but you got to riff on a whole planet.

Just finished watching Svengoolie and tonight it was the first Gill Man movie...interestingly, many familiar faces on board. Re-watching it reminded me the 2 main protagonists [Carlson and Denning] were the leads in Tormented and The Black Scorpion... and everyone's favorite Nestor Paiva(looks like rain over Nestor Paiva) is in the original , as well as the sequel. Paiva also played Lafarge in The Mole People... then you have Whit Bissell, playing another Doc, who is Little Joe's Doctor/Psychiatrist from I was a Teenage Werewolf.
It's a small world..after all.....

Better inventor, Joel or Jonah?
Jordan Fetner - about 1 month ago

Jonah, like Joel before him, is a talented inventor. But who's the better inventor between them? Joel made levers that could alter reality, and created Tom, Crow, Gypsy and Cambot, who feel more like humans than robots. On the other hand, Jonah gave Tom the ability to fly (albeit only in the theater), and in the Invention Exchanges, his inventions are a little more practical than Joel's. The Swiss Army Cheese, for example, which tells you what wine goes best with the cheese you're eating, could actually be useful. Jonah also invented verbal smoke bombs, for avoiding awkward conversations. Most of Joel's inventions are either puns or gags, which makes sense, as Joel was a prop comic prior to MST3K.

... I mean, acts. (Although I guess" Ax" could still work on the sale chopping block angle...)

The latest Rifftrax sale (if you squandered your Valentine's Day sale chance for idiotic things like food, shelter, and medicine, as I did), runs through Monday, February 18th at Midnight PST. There's 15% off "almost everything" (but not on gift cards, per usual). The not-so-secret code for the Presidents' Day Sale: FOUNDERS. (No powdered wigs required.)

If your budget is foundering or floundering some, here's a chance to save a bit on bailing ship (or abandoning it) while sale-ing in the choppy waters of Full Retail.

Gesundheit.
