John Carpenter stated that this film was the inspiration for his film, "The Fog". "The Crawling Eye" had been a TV serial before becoming a film, Laurence Payne and Stuart Saunders reprise their roles from the serial. In the original production, the creatures were called "Ixodes".

I like this movie because Richard Kiel actually gets a chance to act. Most of the time he is either silent (as in the Twilight Zone episode, "To Serve Man"), or just grunts.

Scotty Beckett, the actor who played Winky, lived a short, tragic life. He had to be replaced on this show because he was jailed on weapons charges and may have been involved in an armed robbery. He died at the age of 38 from unknown causes.

This is the movie with the line, "Watch out for snakes." Servo repeats it throughout the film, and it is repeated throughout the series, and has also been used in Rifftrax.

At 22:14, when the teacher is describing Kenny, his comments remind me of a student I had (I taught 8th grade), who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.

Fun Trivia: This film was originally written for King Kong, which explains why Godzilla gets his strength from electricity and his attraction to the girl. Also, in 1991, Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster was distributed under the Film Ventures International name. The company replaced the opening with a generic credit sequence, using footage from Son of Godzilla. This version was aired on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I could see why this did not catch on. Not only were the voices not the actors, but the chemistry between them was off.

Robert Vaughn is a great actor, but he appears to be around 25 in this. Far from being a teenager.

Have not seen this episode until today. Loved their railroad song, and got to see some early Jack Elam!

Brian Jones! (Crow shouts this during a scene at a pool. Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones was found dead, floating in his swimming pool. Probably one of the sickest riffs ever. I love it!)
