The key grip's name is Mace Bacon and I think that's pretty fitting.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the Walter Mondale references every time there's a shot of a 1950s Chevy?

So, was the film's composer deliberately trying to create the most unpleasant sounds imaginable for the showdown in the quarry? It makes the shriek-music from "Psycho" sound like "Moonlight Sonata."

One of my all-time favorite Nelson moments is in the prologue here, when he gets a swelled head over being called "average-looking."

This is random, but I've begun putting on an episode of MST3K when I start exercising. That really emphasized the blandness of this episode for me; I could job half a mile on the treadmill between plot points.

While Mike and the bots over-do it a little bit with making fun of the pacing, the amount of padding in this episode is just awful. There are so many instances of just watching vehicles driving under the speed limit, and people walking across the room in order to do one thing, and then walking back across the room.

Am I getting this correct or did I miss something? Despite running behind schedule Ben inexplicably stops into a service station to have his shocks checked. Despite Dr. Hale having no way of knowing Sam would stop there, Hale just so happens to have the mechanic involved as a participant in his scheme, and so the bad mechanic cuts Sam’s brake line. The only explanation for this is that Hale apparently has every person on the route involved, and while that notion is preposterous, when the mechanic tells Sam the shocks are fine, Sam replies, "I thought they were all right." OK, then why in the hell did he stop then? This movie is killing me.

Does it strike anyone else as ironic that a movie entitled "Riding With Death" is one of the few films in the MST3K catalog in which not a single character dies?

"...for all the rice in China"
I get so irritated every time I hear this line. The phrase is "for all the TEA in China." No one would WANT all the rice in China. Who needs that much rice besides the Chinese? GET YOUR PHRASES RIGHT, MOVIE.

Another possible riff

When the teenage thugs from the short are in the diner and talking about how great mechanical pencils are, the riff that came to mind for me was, "Yes, gang members love to brag about their high-quality office supplies." (It'd be a good Servo line, I think.)

Why are the characters in this movie so oily? This is like a 90-minute tribute to the sebaceous gland.

Outside of the movies, has anyone EVER been referred to as "Mr. Big"?
