What always kills me about this movie is how insistent it is that Marv is a genius, even though he never really does anything particularly clever (or adequate, really).

It's movies like this that make me glad that my only recollection of the '80s is a vague memory of being in the hospital at age 2 with the chicken-pox.

Oh Gawd. So classic. Quintessential MST3k here. If you're looking to get your feet with MST3k, this is the one to start with.

The first time I watched this, I guess I wasn't paying enough attention during the opening credits of the movie so I completely missed the "His nickname is Tiny" riff. The next time I watched it, I heard that line and snorted so hard that milk shot out of my nose. Good times.

Not sure why, but it makes perfect sense to me that the aliens would be cat people.

There are two movie scenes that have made me genuinely sick to my stomach: one is that scene in "The Fly" where Jeff Goldblum pukes acid on that one guy's hand and melts it; the other is the shaving scene in "Eegah". I'm honestly not sure which is first and which is second.

The people in this movie seem to have an awfully casual attitude about marriage.

A few years ago I came across this movie in a listicle of "The Best Kids Movies of All Time." And that was the day I lost my faith in the Internet forever.

The first time I saw this episode was on youtube. It had been chopped up into a bunch of videos of about 10 minutes each, and there was some guy who kept commenting on the video segments that this movie was a great, classic movie and that MST3k should be ashamed that they mocked it. I couldn't help but notice, though, that he stopped saying that when it got to the part about the "invisible electro-magnetic ray screen" on their helmets. I think even he (whoever he was) had to admit that that was pretty stupid.

I just realized who Rick (that would be the weasely douche who sings lead in the band) reminds me of: Shia LaBeouf.

As cheesy as this movie is, I have to admit that that one woman's lobotomized smile at the end is creepy as hell. (There's something about a person smiling with nothing going on behind the eyes that really makes my skin crawl--which I'd say is why clowns are basically the scariest things in the universe.)
