514 - Teenage Strangler - about 3 years ago

One of the weirdest parts of this movie is that there's a serial killer on the loose, targeting teenage girls (except for that one that didn't fit in with the pattern...inexplicably), and no one seems to think that there's any danger. Parents are gone until all hours of the nights, leaving their teenage daughter completely alone. A friend of the teenage girl was killed and yet she doesn't lock any doors when she goes home and is ALL ALONE in the house. Her boyfriend spends no time mourning...neither does anyone else.

It's like the murders are occurring in a parallel universe or something.

Hahaha at 40:20 the almost Taming of the Shrew reference. I have to admit, when I first saw the title of this episode I thought, "My ex?"

I am confused. This movie was made in 1958. Napalm was developed in 1942. But the fire-bombs that the plane dropped were a bit more structurally destructive than Napalm (all the dust coming down on impact). And... napalm has a wonderful splash effect when it hits. The bombing area in this film would only need one good hit considering how it spreads itself out on impact. But, hey, what did these guys know about air-strikes.

301 - Cave Dwellers - almost 3 years ago

I know they discuss it, but the anachronisms of this movie just... get to me. When you have a berserker (they use the interpretation Bare of sark or bare chested, when I tend to believe the ber sark or bear shirt) from the... 8th... 9th century carrying a pair of katanas from the 15th century and flying a glider of the 20th century to attack a 17fh century castle owned by Genghis' third cousin (13th century), I think anachronistic is an understatement. Add on the sunglasses, the tire tracks, and the modern city in the background just for fun and I really want to ask the producer and director what the hell they were smoking when they put this thing together.

I'm honestly curious: did Francis ever film more than one take of any given scene? Cardoza and plenty of company read their lines like if they were earnestly trying to keep emotion out of their voices. I have to assume that Francis simply didn't know he could insist, as a director / producer / editor (not credited but he was, as if this was edited), on a better take. Maybe his budget didn't allow for that much filming.

Because Mike and Crow were having a bachelor party, I think it's only fair to assume that Gypsy and Tom Servo were having a bachelorette party in another part of the Satellite.

With all the comments made during the closing credits, I am shocked, shocked I say, that nothing was said about the name of the production secretary.

Titti Pesaro. (1:26:04)

516 - Alien from L.A. - almost 3 years ago

Ok. Atlantis went down anywhere from 9,000 to 1,600 BC. At the time, what little English that existed was a purely Germanic language. It took Roman invasion for Latin to begin to effect English and eventual invasion of France and other romance based languages to further modify the actual words used in the language for Modern English to evolve. We still used sentence structure based on the original Germanic structure of the language, but were far more influenced in terminology by the Latin based languages. And the Australian form of the language did not begin to evolve until the early 1800s. So tell me. Please. HOW THE HELL DID A SOCIETY THAT SEPARATED ITSELF FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD IN at the least 1600 BC FIRST OF ALL LEARN ENGLISH AND SECOND OF ALL SPEAK IT WITH AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT????????????????????????? (and a bad australian accent, at that) Just had to ask that question.
