AHEAD OF OUR TIME?
An old memory in my head recently surfaced: It's 1977, and a military buddy and I are having beers in a small bar in Germany. We're all watching a film the bar is showing on its projector, up on a small screen. (Sort of a novel experience back then. It was some cheeseball "Jaws" ripoff flick, as I remember.) Anyway, cutting loose a little, my pal and I are kicked out of the bar a short time later -- for talking back to the screen and providing comedic commentary. (In time, we would come to call these "riffs" and "riffing," but that would be a decade or so away.

(No, we're not geniuses -- just playing the same TV-watching game many were doing then, before MST3k. and out in public... but not well appreciated for it, this time out, by others at the watering hole.)

Hello the Wall Post...checking in to see what excitement I might have missed...My Memorial Weekend consisted mainly in getting my yard ready then putting out a pallet of St. Augustine and I am feeling very much my age tonight. How goes it in your neck of the woods?

♫ It's alright hey Princess Leia ♫ The Steppenwolf song would work quite well with just a few changes here and there :o) or maybe you're more in the mood for "Happiness is a warm lightsaber"

Awhile back we were talking about Favorites under-achieving..from the New Season...Re-watched Time Travelers the other day and one thing I did notice is the 1st half of the movie has many awesome riffs(with loud fits of laughter) but it seems to lag considerably in the 2nd half of the movie...You would think with all the stuff going on during that part of the movie it would have been a lot funnier.

Back from another skull nuking, and moving pretty slow. No fish/fiss here, and I still don't lisp when I walk [not that there's anything wrong with that] -- but, for the halibut, I am told by the good folks in Nuke Medicine who run the Brain Roaster 5000™ therapy ride, my scalp now smells like a surgically windblown combo of smoked sea bass and cajun-blackened catfish. (I know -- the Sturgeon General should look into this fishy bizniz, especially as he gets paid scale...)

And thanks for the Be Sure to Get Well [Drinks] messages here. Skoal!

Or, rather, I should say, "Screaming Skoal!"

Re-watching Reptilicus since my daughter is dragging her feet(Class this morning and now she's off with a friend to hold her hand while she gets a tattoo). Anyway, don't know how i missed it the 1st time around but had to chuckle at "CandyGram for Mongo" during the breathtaking depth charge scene.

I found the article about Bridget Nelson inspiring. I have read comments on the old MST3K Usenet group of how the series positively affected some of the posters. I find that laughter is very uplifting and the show was brilliant at providing laughter. Anyone care to share their stories of how it has affected you?

Sold a comic the other day to a Guy named TOR. I guess there's a first for everything. I wanted to ask him if he ever watched MST3K or movies with Tor Johnson but since I didn't know him or if he would be offended..I bit my tongue and kept quiet. Anybody else encounter this dilemma before? Anybody know a Rowsdower or Torgo ;o)
