It's weird.

It seems like there's more than enough plot here. Scientists accidentally open a portal into the post-apocalyptic future, where they're taken in by the last vestiges of humanity, struggling for survival against the radioactive mutants, rushing to complete a generation ship to take them to a new planet. There's the moral question of the mutants' rights to survive. There's the new culture to explore, with their new technology, up against the primitive background of them living in a cave and trying to preserve their dying society. There's the question of whether our heroes can get back to their own time or find a way to survive the future or leave the planet.

And yet... There's no plot here. They go into the future. They wander around. They talk. Their only choices are taken away. The whole thing ends up being an exhibition of stage magic passed off as special effects.

I remember a while back (I guess before this page was created) we had a discussion in the main forum about how the head change was done. Took me a couple of views to figure it out. Even when I noticed the mirror inside the table, it took me a sec to figure out what they could do with it.

I mean, I guess it's kind of cool just using stage magic instead of special effects? Or building a sci-fi world as an excuse to show off stage magic to an unsuspecting audience? Except an audience used to camera tricks and editing and watching the whole thing as a sci-fi movie isn't going to be impressed by (or even necessarily notice) magic tricks like the orange tree or the turning of circles into squares.

So instead you're left with a promising setup that goes nowhere, and magic tricks that fade into the background.

Funny that the bots, being bots, don't understand the stage magician tricks used to disassemble the androids.
The new seasons riffs come at you fast and have a lot more contemporary references that I get.

that doesn't sound a bit like Hugh Laurie
also, I really hate Danny, he openly says the only important thing about a woman is her looks. I wish a killer android had gotten him
