After watching this episode I realized that Christian Bale's Batman is really just a bad Jack Palance impression.

This is the first episode of MST3K I ever saw. I didn't have cable as a kid, but I saw this when Rhino put a few episode on VHS. I still remember the commercial Rhino put on those tapes: it had two 90's guys in a desert doing interpretative dance about calling their 800 number to request a catalog..."It's a free call...it's a free catalog..." Good times!

Is it me, or does Joel introduce Dr Forrester and Frank as "Mutha foockas"? Or something of the sort?

How did these guys manage to watch every tv show and movie, listen to every album, and read every book ever made?

I love how much that scientist lady fails to sound intelligent. It starts with that very odd remark about how a teaspoon of super-dense matter "could only be lifted with a giant crane". Who talks like that? Are theoretical giant cranes a superlative scientific benchmark? She might as well be saying "In technical terms, a neutron star could beat up Superman."

So I've been going through every episode in order, and this is the one I'm currently watching immediately after the Packers won to get into the playoffs. Irony.

This episode has a great example of a riff that really isn't quote-able but made me laugh soooo hard first time I heard it: when, near the beginning, Tom-as-Sinbad grabs the sword form the smith and swings it around all goofy and random. Oh god, that just killed me the first time around. It's like the "It looks like the plane can't think of anything to say" bit from Time Chasers. I think I gave myself a migraine laughing so hard at that.
