"Attention all hands on the ship full of thousands of people. Prepare for a single fighter to land in our docking bay even though it involves absolutely none of you. Yes, most of our population is made up of civilian colonists and people who work in the bars and shops, but EVERYONE PREPARE FOR THIS ONE MEANINGLESS THING."

"Tomorrow I'm going to try to pull my pants up to my chest."

This joke always gets me because -- for something so trivial -- it works on so many levels. The height of his pants is an achievement. It takes so much planning and foresight to hike one's pants up even higher that you have to wait until morning. And it's worth announcing that he's going to try doing it. It just kills me.

For such an old movie, the spacesuits are actually pretty cool. Not like the usual frumpy crap in movies like "Phantom Planet". Speaking of which, not only is the actor who played Makonnan in this movie, there seems to be a character in this one named Makonnan... Did they just think that was such a cool name for an astronaut they had to use it in every movie?

The Japanese woman translating the alien language actually isn't as stupid as it seems.

First of all, if the moon people had any long-forgotten contact with the Earth, it would make sense for them to have knowledge of one of the most ancient and widespread written languages on the planet, like Chinese.

Further, it is proper to assume that a native Japanese speaker could read Chinese. Japan makes use of an alphabet that is almost identical to the Chinese alphabet, which assigns one word to one letter. They are therefore able to read a Chinese text with perfect understanding, even though they would pronounce each word differently.

I've been watching this & the Rifftrax version for years and I still have no clue why Santa calls out for Merlin by shouting "E-man!" when he's stuck in the tree.

I was in a band from 2009-2013 in Seattle. We played at lots of clubs like club Scum in this movie. This brings back memories. Search for "Enfold Stone" on youtube (why not). We have a few vids on there. I'm the bass guy on the left. 😁😁😁

The Teacher Angel is possibly the WORST actor in any MST3K film.

Just because they're big doesn't mean shooting them won't work. Oh for dumb.

Martin Balsam (Cummings) would have been 100 years old on November 4, 2019.
